Girlnetic is the collaborative effort of a group of ambitious women who reap the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle and simply want to spread the joy. Meet the exceptional ladies that make GFSC possible (in alphabetical order):
Amelia Waters
AMELIA WATERS
Director of Content & Production (Founding Member)
As an avid runner, nutrition enthusiast and web professional, Amelia Waters has certainly found a home with Girlnetic. Amelia's career in
television, video and web production has taken her from her native state of Massachusetts to Missouri and back east to Albany, New York. Growing up she began her physical activity in ballet, but later traded in her point shoes for cleats and sneakers for field hockey, basketball and track. Today fitness and healthy, humane nutrition is a lifestyle for Amelia and she hopes to bring what she has learned and experienced to all women. She can be seen running, weightlifting, doing yoga and trying new forms of activity all around the Capital Region as well as trying the hottest vegan and vegetarian dishes. She has her BA from Regis College in Management and Communications and currently resides with her cat Tuna and bunny Ms. Bunna. You can learn more about Amelia by reading her blog, Everyday a New Day.
JENI LEIGH WRIGHTSON
National Director (Co-Founder)
Over the years, sports has been Jeni Leigh Wrightson’s best friend, confidant, therapist and motivator. Although Jeni’s sport of choice changes from time to time, her general passion for an active life remains constant. If you knew Jeni Leigh growing up, you would know that she’s played on both a baseball and field hockey team, ran track, did gymnastics and rode horses. These days, she can be found playing tennis, running and biking all over Albany, rock-climbing and re-centering with yoga. To Jeni Leigh, fitness is no longer a hobby but a way of a life. With Jeni’s passion for health and fitness and the desire to pass along her knowledge to other women, you won’t wonder why she is considered to be the embodiment of Girlnetic. You can get a better sense of what we mean by reading her personal blog, Glorious Morning.

JONALIZA D. MISA
Executive Director (Founder)
Jonaliza D. Misa is a young entrepreneur at the beginning of her mission to contribute to the empowerment and advancement of women by building the largest women’s face-to-face social networking empire, GFSC being the kick-off of her venture. Graduating from Virginia Tech with a BS in Fashion Business & Merchandising Management, Jonaliza’s original career path was in fashion retail merchandising but took a turn when she realized that she wanted to use her entrepreneurial spirit and business management skills to give back to the community beyond the hours of volunteer work she did through New York Cares. After working as a consultant for various non-profit organizations, she began work as the Director of Operations & Events for the New York Senate Dems, experiences which have helped confirm her ultimate career goal of social entrepreneurship. During her free time, and when not engaged in fitness and sports, she enjoys and practices all forms of art including illustration, design, fiction writing and musical composition, while working to pursue her M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship & Business Management. Jonaliza currently resides in Albany, NY, a move she enthusiastically made to escape the hustle-and-bustle of New York City and become one with nature.
JULIA WHITE
Director of GFSC-Boston (Founding Member)
She may be of petite stature but Julia White is far from being a weakling. She has been involved in sports her entire life, being on varsity track and cross country, playing for a traveling soccer and softball team, and participating in competitive swimming all throughout her high school and college career, experiences which have given her the strength of a seven-foot tall professional basketball player. It also helps that she grew up in a household where organic and fresh food were plentiful; you are what you eat after all. Julia graduated from University of Arizona in 2009 and recently moved to Boston, MA. When not immersed in Girlnetic activities, she runs with a Boston running club, plays tennis, and explores the sights and sounds of her new home.
KATIE FREEMANDirector of GFSC-Albany (Founding Member)
It
was only a matter of time for Katie Freeman to be asked to join the GFSC Leadership
Team: Katie began her journey with GFSC as an active member of the Albany Chapter, and months later was appointed Director of the local club for her passion for health and fitness and
enthusiasm for making a difference in women’s lives. Katie lives and breathes the Girlnetic lifestyle which makes her a perfect fit for the Team. For nine years, her life revolved around gymnastics and when she
decided to try something different, she participated in various sports including
lacrosse, swim, track, soccer and cheerleading. Today, she continues to be
active in any and all forms as she truly finds enjoyment when she able to
encourage and inspire other women to be the same. When not at GFSC,
Katie is a full-time speech pathologist working with traumatic brain injury
patients where she help her patients make the journey to becoming independent.
MAYA BATTS
Director of GFSC-DC Metro (Founding Member)
Maya Batts is an ex-soldier with a zest for life. The military combined her love for travel, physical fitness, and pushing herself to the limit. When Maya decided to trade in her combat boots for a pair of 5 inch heels, she realized she missed those early morning group workouts. Thankfully group fitness classes and Girlnetic have helped fill that void. If you are looking for an adventure Maya is your wing woman. She is an explorer of the life. One of her favorite adventures is white water rafting in Costa Rica.
